Who is Roxanne Flagler?Roxanne Flagler has been singing Christian music since she was a very young girl, having her first media experience at the age of eight on a TV show called Gospel Echoes. After her debut, she was asked to be a regular participant on the show as a soloist. At the age of fourteen, Roxanne accepted an invitation to sing for the southern gospel music group, The Masters', led by Cam Shillington. The Masters’ assisted with and co-hosted the syndicated television program called Gospel Singing Time. During this time, Roxanne and The Masters' toured throughout Canada and the United States. When Roxanne was 16 she appeared in concert at the Grand Ole-Opry at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee. A few years later, The Masters' became members of Canada's Opry North and in 1979 were awarded The Canadian Gospel Music Association award for Canada's Favourite Mixed Group. Later, in 1980 Roxanne became a member of the contemporary Southern Gospel group The Revised Edition. They too traveled extensively to various church functions and appeared on television shows such as 100 Huntley Street. As she traveled and recorded Christian music, Roxanne received the honour of being named Canada's Top Female Vocalist by the Canadian Gospel Music Association. By the year 1985, Roxanne had won this award four years in a row. These awards were encouraging for Roxanne. Yet, when asked, Roxanne quickly responded that she favoured one award higher than them all - the role of becoming a mother (three kids in all - Brandon Keith b.1979; Amanda Roxanne b.1985 and Melissa Leanne b.1987). Roxanne has shared concerts with Christian music artists such as " The Gaithers ", " The Rambo's " , Janet Paschal, " The Nelons ", Mark Masri, Hiram Joseph and Rena Gaile. In Country Music, she has also performed on the same stage with " The Oak Ridge Boys ", Buck Owens, Minnie Pearl, Tommy Hunter, Carol Baker, Patricia Conroy and Blue Rodeo. Up to this point in time, her music had taken her to places that were very satisfying and pleasing to God. Yet, at the age of 28, Roxanne's life became unsettled. She found herself putting her ministry ahead of her family. Humbled by her weakness and poor choices she had made in her life, Roxanne confessed that she needed a new beginning and decided to take some time off the road. In the several years that followed, Roxanne's life began to change. She became actively involved in her local church as a worship singer and musician; she began to write songs about her life - her decision to make Christ LORD of not only her life, but also of her music, was evident. Through the eyes of grace and mercy, she discovered who she really was in Christ and the nature of her calling. In the year 2000, when her children were all teenagers, she recorded a brand new CD entitled Second Chance - a title that was so appropriate for Roxanne. Following that year, a world of opportunity to sing Christian music opened up. Roxanne is living proof that second chances can be a reality. In fact, she proclaims today, that God is not only the God of second chances, but he is in fact the God of MANY chances. In the year 2000, the album Second Chance received a number of CGMA awards, including Contemporary Album of the Year, Contemporary Song of the Year for the title track “Second Chance” and Inspirational Song of the Year for the song “Praise Him”. Since 2000, Roxanne has recorded two further albums of original material - Lady in Red (2001)and her latest release It was Your Cross (2006). Roxanne continues to perform and minister internationally.
