BevAcqua is a worship band fronted by husband and wife team Joe BevAcqua and Daphne BevAcqua combines the unique abilities of being a good worship band. Their hooky lyrics and riveting guitar riffs set the stage for Daphne’s world class voice.
This energetic pop duo originates from Ottawa, Canada and has a strong desire to reach young people with a positive, Christian based message through their music. As stated in their song "Father Send Us Your Spirit" their goal is to hear Jesus say 'well done my faithful servant'. Joe and Daphne met at church while playing in the youth band. Both had been previously involved in several bands and local recordings. The BevAcqua Band includes: Daphne BevAcqua (keyboard/lead vocal), Joe BevAcqua (lead guitar/vocal), Kevin Birch –– (drums/vocal), Josh Horvath - (bass guitar), and Tony Lind (guitar).
In 1992, Joe traveled across Canada with Christian group 'Siloam' in support of a government funded anti-drug campaign. Joe also lent his guitar talent to other recording projects as well as full-time guitar teaching. In 1987, Joe dedicated his life and will to God and began to write many songs with such content. His song, "I Love You Lord", recorded on a three-song demo by Bevacqua, was quickly received in many Ottawa area churches as a worship song and was successful in reaching Ottawa's own CHRI FM Christian Hit Radio's top 100 songs in 1998.
Daphne has been involved with music all of her life. Coming from a family of many gospel singers, she has carried on the tradition of spreading hope through her music. Daphne began composing and singing at a young age and continues to do so. She has worked with other local singers playing piano and singing background vocals in several recordings. In the summer of 1995, Daphne had the opportunity to sing at the Canadian National Exhibition in Toronto on the gospel stage. She has performed twice for the CBC Heart Telethon, appeared in Ottawa's Marc Productions television and radio commercials, and played the part of the pianist in a Canadian country music video, aired on CMT.
On Nov 6, 1999 Bevacqua had the privilege of opening in concert for Canadian artist, Carolyn Arends. They were also invited to perform at the Canadian Museum of Civilization in March, 2000 to support the Easter demonstration of the Christian faith. One of the favorite Christian camps in eastern Ontario, Lakeshore Pentecostal Camp, also extended an invitation to Bevacqua to lead the junior highs in worship for a week in July, 2000.
Joe and Daphne are presently residing in Georgetown, Ontario where Joe is serving as the assistant pastor running the music and youth programs. Currently many other Canadian Christian radio stations have added Bevacqua to regular rotation on their play lists. Bevacqua's music has gone beyond the borders of North America reaching as far south as Trinidad.
