==What is Article One ?==

Ontario-based Article One combines violin, keys, and three-part vocal harmonies to create a reminiscent yet inventive sound. Comprising founding brothers Nathan Piche (vocals/guitars/piano) and Matthew Piche (vocals/violin) as well as Dave DeSmit (vocals/drums), Article One began playing locally in 2003 alongside the release of a five-song EP. An immediate buzz followed the trio, and they were asked to join The Elms’ fall tour in 2004. Shortly thereafter, the band released its first full-length CD, self-titled, which prompted its busiest touring season to date. Among those performances was Kingdom Bound’s International Talent Search, where Article One walked away with the winning title. The band has played more than 50 shows in the last two months alone and was most recently nominated for New Artist of the Year at Gospel Music Association Canada’s Covenant Music Awards.

With parents who were both music teachers—the father also an experienced Christian recording artist and worship leader—it's only natural that brothers Nathan and Matt Piché would somehow follow in their footsteps. So along with Dave De Smit, they formed Article One, taking their name from the Universal Declaration of Human Rights featured on U2's Vertigo tour, which states that we're all born equal and should therefore treat each other equally. What is Article One ?

Signing with Inpop Records is yet another victory for Article One. Lead vocalist and primary songwriter Nathan Piche comments, “All of us in Article One are extremely excited about signing to Inpop! We have spent the last three years developing a sound that is unique, yet accessible, for both the Christian and secular markets. We feel honored to be joining such a talented roster of artists and privileged to be supported by such an outstanding record company. We cannot wait to begin this stage of our career.”

“Article One provides Inpop with a fresh, unique and international pop sound,” says Dale Bray, president of Inpop Records. “The band’s prominent use of violin in every song makes their sound strictly their own. If you like the pop sensibilities of groups like The Fray you will love Article One.”

Produced in the band’s native Canada by local talent Siegfried Meier, Article One’s self-titled album carries the honor of Inpop Records’ first release in 2006. The record’s first radio single “Heaven Let Me Know” will be serviced to Christian Hit Radio in December.
