What is downhere ?

downhere is a Canadian melodic alt-rock band. The band's combination of powerful vocals, intelligent lyrics, and commitment to ministering to their audiences, helped earn them a Dove Award nomination for New Artist of the Year, a Juno Award for Best Gospel Album, and Canadian Gospel Music Association Covenant Awards for Rock Album of the Year and Rock Song of the Year (for "Larger Than Life").

downhere started on the campus of Briercrest College and Seminary at Port Trax Recording studio and originally signed with Slyngshot Records. This past year they signed with Word Records, in Nashville, TN. The current members of downhere include Marc Martel, Jason Germain, Jeremy Thiessen (all Briercrest College alumni) and Glenn Lavender, who joined them in 2005.

Their mature songwriting, catchy melodies and tight vocal harmonies have earned them two Canadian Prairie Music Awards (SRIA), a Juno Award for Best Gospel Album, and a Dove nomination for Best New Artist of the Year. Look for their self-titled debut album, which offers a mix of energetic pop-rock songs and heartfelt acoustic-based ballads at your local Christian bookstore.
