What was the Vibe Awards ?

The Vibe Awards was the People's Choice Awards annual ceremony held for Canadian Christian artists. Music included Contemporary/Pop, Country/Bluegrass, Folk, Jazz/Blues, Rock/Alternative, Southern Gospel/Traditional, Urban/Soul, Inspirational, Rap/HipHop/Dance, Worship.

The Vibe Awards was launched in the spring of 2002 before an enthusiastic crowd of 1,300 at Calgary's Telus Convention Centre. The inaugural winners included Canadian artists Jake, Matt Brouwer, Carolyn Arends, and downhere.

In 2003, the number of award categories was increased from eight to 14.

The Vibe Awards were held in Calgary, Alberta in 2003 and Toronto, Ontario in 2004.

The predecessor to the Vibe Awards was SoundsAlive.

Sponsors included Crossroads Television System, Gospel City.Com, Prairie Dog Film & Television, Roland Canada, and Slyngshot Productions.
