Warren Parker, a singer for the Canadian Christian band Parker Trio, died Saturday January 7, 2006 after he was struck by a pickup truck while trying to direct traffic around the group’s tour bus. The Parker Trio is a frequent musical guest of Nazarene churches from Ontario to Florida. The group was readying for a performance at the Calvary Church of the Nazarene when the tragedy occurred. The driver of the pickup was going 45 miles per hour when he hit Parker and sandwiched him between the group’s bus and the truck, Berkeley County Coroner Glenn Rhoad said. The area was well-lit and the large, the decorated bus extending into the road was impossible to ignore, the coroner stated. The other band members, which include Parker’s wife, Shannan, were on the bus. Rhoad said that one of them reported the driver of the truck climbed out, saw Parker trapped and ran away. State troopers were looking for the pickup’s driver. The Parker Trio’s business operation is based in Pickering, Ontario, though members of the group now live in Nashville, family friend Janet Goodall said. A tribute posted on the group’s website stated: “Warren is survived by his best friend/partner-in-life-and-ministry, Shannan Parker. Please uphold Shannan in prayer along with Warren’s parents, Brian and Edna, his sister Julie, and her husband David, and nephews Ryan and Matthew. Remember also the other band members Angie and Brandt White. “Although it’s hard to understand the ‘whys,’ may God’s glory and presence be evident in the coming days.” Donations can be made to:
