What is Lawson Falle Ltd.?Lawson Falle Ltd. was a record distribution company in the 1980's. They imported vinyl records, cassette tapes and compact discs from record publishers such as Greentree, Benson publishing and others. Staff included Julie Van Dyken (2002).
In recent years Lawson Falle Ltd. focused on distributing Christian greeting cards. Lawson Falle was founded in 1972 by Bill Lawson, a Christian retailer, and David Falle. Its inception was spurred by Christian retailers requiring a reliable supply of product into their channel. These two pioneers began by distributing wall plaques and other items to specialty Christian stores across Canada. For the first two years, David Falle worked from his garage; taking orders, packing goods, and managing sales. Several years later, David Falle bought out Bill Lawson’s share of the company and moved the business to his hometown of Cambridge, Ontario. The company found a new home in the third floor of a former factory with the help of family members. Five years later, Lawson Falle had grown to an employer of eighteen people and occupied an 11,000 square foot warehouse. It had expanded its distribution activities to include many of the largest producers of Christian product. The turning point in Lawson Falle’s history occurred in 1986 when its Minnesota greeting card supplier went bankrupt. David Falle was faced with 3000 customers across Canada with a need for greeting cards. He decided to take chance and started the division of Image Craft to produce his own line of Christian greeting cards. Lawson Falle has expanded their line to include gift bags, journals, picture frames, photo albums and other specialty gifts. With over 3000 customers worldwide, Lawson Falle has successfully established high quality products that have significant meaning to customers globally.
In 2000, Image Craft was acquired by Paramount Cards of Pawtucket, RI. In that same year, Rick Tocquigny was recruited to advance the Lawson Falle division. His team built a mission statement that stands to this day- “To know God, to demonstrate His kingdom, and help people express His love and grace through the most innovative greeting cards and gift products for every reason, every season and every heart.” Dicksons Gifts, an industry leader in inspirational gifs, announced the acquisition of the second largest Christian greeting card publisher Lawson Falle Publishing from Paramount Greeting Cards in January, 2006. Dicksons was founded in 1944 by Edmund and Lura Dickson. His original belief was that scripture reminders should be everywhere. Today, that belief is evidenced on over 10,000 inspirational products that Dicksons offers. Today, Lawson Falle produces cards for over 150 occasions and has over 3000 designs. Lawson Falle continues to focus on producing and marketing the most innovative greeting cards that provide encouragement to the recipient. Lawson Falle has expanded their line to include gift bags, journals, and inventive social expression products. With over 3000 customers worldwide, Lawson Falle has successfully established high quality products that have significant meaning to customers globally. Lawson Falle products have grown with its customer base to include its award winning Voices of Faith cards, Inherit the Mirth and Thou Shalt Laugh (the only humorous cards in the Christian market).
On December 16,2005 Lawson Falle Ltd. which was owned by Paramount Cards Holding Corporation was sold its to Dicksons Gifts, a leader in Christian and inspirational gifts. Rick Tocquigny, President of Lawson Falle Publishing, remains as President of the company and joins Dicksons leadership. He said, “Lawson Falle is the second largest marketer of Christian greeting cards and Dicksons will enhance our ability to build inventive brands for the social expression industry. Lawson Falle is known for its leadership in segments of the Christian card market and we are confident the synergistic alignment with Dicksons will benefit our strategic growth initiatives. We expect our Voices of Faith™ line to expand with gifts and cards, as the Dicksons product range helps leverage our best selling authors and artists, such as Casting Crowns, Sandy Patty and other voices in our series.” Tocquigny added that the entire leadership team at Lawson Falle will join Dicksons, providing for a smooth transition. He added that Lawson-Falle’s Cambridge, Ontario office will continue to provide sales and administrative support to all channels on a worldwide basis.
