What is Industry Canada?

Industry Canada is the lead Canadian federal government department for radio, spectrum and telecommunications issues. Radio, Spectrum and Telecommunications provides frequency allocation, radio licensing, certification standards, geospatial information and other related resources.

The objectives of Spectrum Management are:

  • to ensure all radio spectrum use is compatible;
  • to ensure the availability of spectrum for new users, uses, and technologies;
  • to provide users with frequency assignments that meet their needs;
  • to minimize occurrences of interference;
  • to ensure cases of harmful interference are investigated promptly.
