Who is Barry Kentner ?

Barry Kentner began his media career in 1952 in a Toronto Advertising agency. In 1955 he made his first application to what was then the BBG (Board of Broadcast Governors) for a Christian Radio Station. He had just joined the staff of CFCO Radio in Chatham Ontario. Over the years until 1980 Barry worked for many stations and then opened his own consulting firm providing news, commentary, programming etc for radio stations and helping with applications for Christian Stations. At one time some people called him the "Grandfather" of Christian Radio as he had made so many CRTC appearances.

In 1974 he worked with Preston Manning on a Christian Radio Station Application, and in 1979 worked with Ralph Jacobson on his application to convert the old CBC Station in Vancouver to a "Family" station. He worked closely with Patrick Bestall of London on a lot of applications including Bob Du Broy and The Sound of Faith FM

Barry Kentner won all the broadcast awards in North America for spot news in 1975. He introduced the first working "All News and Talk" format in Canadian Radio, based in Brampton Ontario.
