The mission of City-Wide Worship & Prayer is to unite Christians in Canada’s Capital Region to give glory to God and pray that His will be done as He transforms our region.

This vision was sparked in a member of a local College and Career ministry in the fall of 1998 while participating in an evening of worship. As a result, a small team was formed and in April 1999, the first “City-Wide Worship & Praise” night was held at the Metropolitan Bible Church. A total of 90 young people from various denominations came to worship that night.

In September 2001 a name change to “City-Wide Worship & Prayer” signalled a shift in focus for Christians to pray in unity for God to do His will in our region. At this time, the ministry was expanded past its previous young adult-aged participants and represented a more broad Christian community.

In addition to monthly worship and prayer events, October 2004 brought our first annual The Gathering where more than 1,200 Christians from various congregations in the National Capital Region came together to worship and pray in unity. It was an amazing night and we’re excited to continue celebrating and strengthening our union we have with you in Christ. The next Gathering is scheduled for October 28, 2006 at Scotiabank Place, with seating available for 3,200 people!
