Ron Reed
Ron Reed is the Managing Artistic Director of Pacific Theatre in
Before founding Pacific Theatre in 1984, Ron Reed studied acting in the BFA program at the University of Alberta, and received an MFA in acting from the California Institute of the Arts. His portrayal of Hugo in GOD'S MAN IN TEXAS was nominated for a Jessie Richardson Award, as was his ensemble work in COTTON PATCH GOSPEL. Other favourite roles have included Charlie in THE FOREIGNER, Matt Friedman in TALLEY'S FOLLY, Macduff in MACBETH, and the one-man-shows DAMIEN and THE TOP TEN THOUSAND OF ALL TIME.
Ron is also a widely-produced playwright. BOOK OF THE DRAGON won the Chalmers Canadian Play Award in 1997, and TENT MEETING (a collaboration with Morris Ertman) was nominated for Toronto's Dora Mavor Moore Award and Edmonton's Sterling Award as Outstanding New Play. His other plays include REFUGE OF LIES, YOU STILL CAN'T, REMNANT, DREAMS OF KINGS & CARPENTERS and several others. TAKE ME OUT TO THE BALLGAME will premiere in St Louis in summer 2004. Currently in progress: A BRIGHT PARTICULAR STAR, the story of George MacDonald's daughter Lilia, an actress.
Ron teaches acting at Trinity Western University and occasional summer school courses for Regent College, is a regular participant at the Lamb's Players Writers' Week in San Diego and the Art Within Symposium and Showcase in Atlanta, and serves on the Play Development Committee for CITA (Christians In Theatre Arts). He lives in Richmond with his wife Carole and two daughters, Thea and Katie, and is currently working on a book about the movies.
