Shane Wiebe of Abbotsford gave up his day job for a shot at the Canadian Idol number one slot. Until he decided to enter the popular TV contest, Wiebe was a perogie salesman. However, says the 21 year old singer, the company "couldn't handle the contingency of me being gone for either a week or three months." He says he has no regrets. Asked to outline his goals, he says: "I want to love the Lord, love my wife, love my children and love the people of the world. I know it sounds like I'm running for Miss America -- but if I keep these priorities straight, everything else falls into place."

"When you have a strong foundation, it takes a lot to topple you over. It takes a lot for you to compromise who you are and I have that strong foundation in God and in the people that I've loved and the people that I have around me," Wiebe says.
