I was raised in the Seventh Day Adventist Church, and went to their schools through the 10th grade, then graduated from public school. I consider myself Canadian, but the Jamaica in my genes is still there. I can think of no better meal than Jamaican oxtail, rice and peas. I want to tell you...it rocks!

| − | Growing up, Mom always played Mahalia Jackson, who I emulated. Then, on occasion she would also play Jim Reeves, who was a big country star for about 30 years, from the '50s into the '80s. I don't know what you get when you combine those two! My mother always knew that I loved Gospel music and would someday be a musician. So, she played a lot of Gospel albums around the house. Andrae Crouch, and the Hawkins Family were two that really hit me in a big way very early on.
