On January 7, 1994 radio station CHRX 600 CLASSIC ROCK signed off at 6 pm by playing Led Zeppelin’s “Stairway to Heaven”. At 6 pm the sound of ocean waves and Christian music medleys introduced listeners to a new radio format for Canada.

On January 9, 1994 at 12:00 noon, CKBD 600 AM “THE BRIDGE” officially signed on as Canada’s first contemporary Christian music (CCM) radio station with [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rich_Mullins Rich Mullins'] song “[http://www.kidbrothers.net/music/lyrics/wohsoe-ag.html Awesome God]”. The Christian music format lasted from 1994 to July 1998. The station is now an adult contemporary secular station called 600 AM.
