What was CKBD The Bridge ?CKBD The Bridge was Canada's first full time radio station broadcasting contemporary Christian music (CCM) on 600 AM from Vancouver British Columbia. The station was owned by Jim Pattison and run by his Jim Pattison Broadcast Group.
On January 9, 1994 at 12:00 noon, CKBD 600 AM “THE BRIDGE” officially signed on as Canada’s first contemporary Christian music (CCM) radio station with Rich Mullins' song “Awesome God”. Since then, CCM formats have followed in Edmonton, Ottawa and Calgary. On July 31,1998 CKBD 600 AM "The Bridge" dropped its contemporary Christian format for adult standards. The Christian music format lasted from 1994 to July 1998. The station is now an adult contemporary secular station called 600 AM. Media Coverage
