Canadian Gospel Music ConferenceThe Canadian Gospel Music Conference was held in Ottawa Canada, July 13 and July 14 2007. The event was a production of Donald Odige. As Ottawa is the Nation's Capital and the seat of Government, it is believed and understood that the benefits of the Canadian Gospel Music Conference (CGMC) are not only to impact the Canadian Gospel Music Industry, but strategically & spiritually, to have an impact in the heavenlies, as the Levites from all over Canada and the U.S. lift up the standard of musical excellence and join together in unity to affect change in our nation and the world. This conference was open and available to all those in Canada who are serious about their ministries and are serious about the business of Gospel Music. If you are involved in the furtherance of Gospel Music and Gospel Arts, that includes spoken word, poetry, dance, theatre/ film, fashion as well as music performance, production, songwriting, media, promotion, publishing etc, we welcome you. We will exclude no one. The gospel music industry in the U.S. includes all the above and is a $700 million business and growing. It is the only genre that continues to grow while others are decreasing. In Canada, we are just beginning to understand the dynamics of what it takes to bring growth to an industry which is largely untapped and un-nurtured. However, it is the belief of the Founders of the CGMC that there is strong potential in the increasing numbers of artists and industry persons who are contributing to the movement of the Canadian Gospel Music Industry. This event is built on the value of SUPPORT. This is a concept espoused by Grammy and Dove Award-winning Ambassador Dr. Bobby Jones. Whether you are an independent or National Artist, appearing on the showcase stage or the mainstage, Dr. Jones places none before the other. It is for that reason that he will be our Key Mover & Shaker appearing at the conference. Along with Dr. Jones, Canadians will be treated to performances from Stellar Award-winning Traditional Male Vocalist Luther Barnes, Ground-breaking innovators Keith & Karl Edmonds of K&K Mime, Legendary Vocalist from The James Cleveland Singers, Cleo Kennedy. Combine that with excellent Canadian Maja & Covenant Award-winning artists Krystaal, Raylene Scarrott and Caribbean Balladeer George Banton, Ottawa's Prosper & God's Plan Ministries and many more, conference attendees will have an unforgettable experience. Other activities include a GALA Dinner, nightly VIP events and a full day of explosive Panel Discussions centering on the following topics: the importance of fashion and image to your gospel music career; 21st century PR and the importance of utilizing all available media outlets in today's challenging and competitive gospel music industry; self management vs. good management vs. bad management and how to know the difference as an artist; the importance of radio to further growth of the Canadian Gospel Radio industry; the unique challenges faced by our country and the strategies that can be utilized to overcome them; Panel of artists speaking candidly and openly to encourage and uplift the Canadian industry. The CGMC was hosted at the Crowne Plaza Hotel Ottawa. Contact Canadian Gospel Music ConferenceCanadian Gospel Music Conference For Press or Media contact: Sarah Onyango
