Glengate Alliance Church, as it is now known, began in 1917 under the influence of Dr. P.W. Philpott, Canada’s leading evangelist. The church first met on Temperance Street in a building that had belonged to the Niagara Falls Rifle Association. The church was known then as “The Tabernacle”. In the early 1940’s the Tabernacle joined the Christian and Missionary Alliance. In 1967, The Alliance Tabernacle moved from Temperance Street to its new facility on Glengate Street and became known as the Glengate Alliance Church. In November of 2004, Glengate purchased its present facility at 6009 Valley Way, formerly the old St. Michael High School. Even with the address change, the church continues to operate as Glengate Alliance Church.
