Who is Martine Bourgeois ?

One month after Martine’s debut album Here to Stay, hit radio, Tragedy struck as Martine’s Mother passed away.

If you were to ask Martine, she would say that this was the hardest time she has every endured, but in the end it has made her stronger as a person, Singer Songwriter and as a Worship Leader.

Martine credits the inspiration for her first album was derived by moments of tears, joy, sadness and pain. Songs like “You Will Carry Me”, was inspired by her Mother’s illness, and was written out of a corner of Life she felt she could not escape.

Martine’s music proceeded to pour out of her on to paper during a time of 18 years in the middle of her Mothers fight with a deadly liver Disease.

“Inspiration sometimes has a perplexed way of showing itself, but so does God and he is always there. So you take it all, the good the bad and the ugly.”

During Live performances, the message that stems from the inspiration that is behind these songs and from Martine’s heart is hope.

“My music brings a message of hope, trust and compassion. People everywhere have a story, sometimes good, sometimes bad. What ever our experiences may have been in the past, because of God’s grace, they have made us the people we are today.”

Martine, a gifted musician as well as a singer song writer, credits her music in creation From the Grace of God and a little help from her acoustic guitar.

With her voice and guitar at hand, Martine has had the privilege to see her music touch, encourage and inspire many of all ages.

With her first full album release, 13 original songs, Martine has toured across Canada and in parts of the US, telling her story, sharing her passion at a variety of Churches, Conferences, Youth Festivals, Big Event Concerts (Rolling Stone’s Pre-Party- Moncton, The Halifax Hurricane Katrina Benefit Concert by World Vision, Feed Nova Scotia Benefit Concert – Halifax.)

Canada has seen Martine share the stage with other prominent Artist such as: Starfield, Down Here, Toronto Mass Choir, Steve Green and more.

Martine has been featured on many syndicated shows and televised events across Canada including: 100 Huntley Street, Canadian Music Week, CBC Television, SHAI Awards, ATV and more.

Martine is currently working on her second album which is being recorded in Nashville TN. She is working with acclaimed producer “Tim Hall”, who most is known for the platinum record he produced for Major Label Recording Artist “Amy Grant.”

Martine was nominated as “Gospel Artist of the year”, at the 2003 East Coast Music Awards (Halifax)

Martine received 2 Nominations, “Female Artist of the year”, &” New Artist of the Year”, at the 2003 SHAI / Vibe Awards (Calgary)

Martine received the award as “Contemporary Artist of the year”, at the 2004 Mercy Awards (Fredericton)

Martine has shared the stage with other prominent artist including: Starfield, DownHere, Jake, Steve Green, Toronto Mass Choir and more.

Martine’s debut album, “Here to Stay”, has gained regular airplay by radio across Canada, in parts of the US and also internationally including: Finland, Germany, Czech Rep, Ukraine, Ireland and more…

Martine became a Compassion Canada Artist in 2003.

Martine has been singing since the age of fourteen and at a very young age had the opportunity to sing in numerous places such as churches, schools, outdoor parks, downtown squares, and specials such as Sommet de la francophonie, weddings, restaurants, etc..

As a teenager she organized a youth Christmas choir for three consecutive years in the Christmas play, while attending high school. She has been a worship leader in her home church since the age of fifteen.

In 1998, she recorded a duo with a well-known Acadian artist which was a number one hit for two consecutive weeks in the local market. Thanks to this song, they were nominated number five in the top Acadian artists of the year.

She also has had the opportunity to perform in ministry in the United States at various churches and also perform concerts at youth group meetings. She has apeared on national television in 2002 with scheduled television apppearances for 2003 as well as performing at various music awards functions in Ontario and the Maritimes in 2003.
