Red Sector One was a Christian Synth pop band from Vancouver Canada. The band is made up of 4 gifted musicians — Drew (vocals), Mike (keyboards), Matt (keyborads) and Yates (drums). The group has released 2 albums under Alternatech Music and Flaming Fish respectively and several singles on a couple of Electronica compilations. “An Optimistic Delight”, the bands first release which was recorded in 1994 consisted of 10 tracks with 3 songs sang in Spanish. Influences from Erasure and early Depeche Mode can be clearly heard in several tracks like Heres to a better day, Gates of Heaven and Hope in my eyes. “Reincarnation” is a song which makes fun of the idea of people being born as different creatures and re-affirms us that we only have one life to live. The final track “Philosophy”, a melodic instrumental utilizes vocal samples to insinuate and ask what we are suppose to do here in this world.
